Introduction

Hi everyone. Thanks for giving this a chance. I’m very excited to be getting this started.

I’ve always been a big lover of wine and spirits and over the past three years, I have become more and more interested in wine and spirits and have begun participating in auctions. During my first auction, I more or less had no idea what I was doing. My experience was so-so and the support I received from the auction house was not stellar.

My subsequent experiences have been much better and I’ve realized that it can be a very intimidating world for the majority of wine consumers. One of the goals I have with this site is to make the events much more transparent and help explain the collections being offered in auctions around the world. Often times, the information can be difficult to gather and the process along can be very time consuming. In addition to this, there is the matter of provenance which is of critical importance when purchasing old wine. Simply put, how well stored was this given bottle and is it authentic? Wine nerds love their sayings and for collectors, the statement that always rings true is “there are no great vintages, only great bottles.” We’re always trying to make sure that the wine we buy is going to be of good quality and not cooked or corked.

Another goal I have with this site is to help get people interested in wine. I was sitting down with a friend of mine who works in the wine trade and we were talking about how young people do not have an interest in what we would call fine wine. We were discussing all of the reasons for this: lack of exposure, lack of knowledge, and so on. I’m going to try many different things here to attract your issue. Please leave comments and tell me what you would like more of. One thing I will not be doing is posting tasting notes. Tasting notes are very personal and don’t mean much if you are not drinking the exact same bottle as me.

Thank you for reading and I hope you are looking forward to this journey half as much as I am.

  1. Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Firefox. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The layout look great though! Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Cheers

  2. Hi,

    Thanks!!

    Sam
